SWING PEOPLE!
Come GET DOWN with us!

Billy Siegenfeld, artistic director of Jump Rhythm Jazz Project, and Jordan Kahl, JRJP company member, are coming to the Galaxie Sunday, July 27 from 11-2pm to teach a workshop in Jump Rhythm Technique, an innovative, “rhythm-first” approach to movement learning that focuses on transforming the dancing body into a swinging, rhythmically articulate percussion instrument.

This technique is the perfect complement to swing-based partner dancing because it helps:
- ground the body so it can move with power and relaxation;
- solidify swinging rhythms inside the body through jazz-based scat-singing;
- connect with others rhythmically through precision-timed, hand-held partner dancing.

The workshop will move through four phases:
1. introducing Jump Rhythm Technique’s alignment concept of Standing Down Straight
2. learning the basic exercises of the technique;
3. teaching a movement combination from the JRJP repertory;
4. screening and discussing examples of “American Rhythm Dancing”.
