NICOLLE WOOD, Entertainment Director of The Galaxie, has culminated 2 decades of production, artist booking, and community development into one concise and ever-growing collection of the most talented and professional performers Chicago has to offer.
Having focused her time and energy on vintage social dance forms, their development, social relevance, and sustainability in the Midwest, and producing Swing, Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Balboa events since the form’s resurgence in Chicago in 1997, Nicolle has spearheaded many firsts in this form. She continues to develop events that quickly become the cornerstone of this niche community.
As the Artistic Director of the brick and mortar “The Galaxie”, a 10,000 sq ft space that housed dance and performance studios, artist workspaces, creative community offices, shop areas, and gallery space, Nicolle developed a collaborative community that saw the development magnificent happenings in a space where “expression matters”.
Moving her attention to artist booking, Nicolle single-handedly developed a comprehensive and far-reaching “American Roots” based entertainment roster at Chicago’s hottest River North entertainment based Supperclub, Untitled. Working with the talented team at Untitled, she developed initiatives that included the Chicago premiere of the film “The Great Gatsby”, “Unbustled- Untitled’s Inaugural Burlesque Competition”, and the long-running, critically acclaimed and ever-changing “Unbridled”.
THE GALAXIE has a supreme collection of event production support not to mention a talented and professional roster of performance-based artists ready willing and able to see your vision become reality.
